Team bonding has fast become an important element in every corporate organization. An organization that is particular about development must take team bonding very seriously because the success of most organisations depends on the ability of individuals to build effective teams.

Team Bonding activities are important in a team as they help to improve communication and relationship among team members. Ideally, team bonding should be taken out of the office as it helps groups break down political, religious and personal barriers. This way, all work distractions are also out of the way and people are sure to let loose and just have fun.

Some great ideas for team bonding activities include:

Cook Off

Creating new dishes requires creativity and this will require everyone to put in their team and leadership skills. Divide a team into smaller teams, pick a food category (pizza, ice cream, cake, etc) and challenge them to make something delicious. One way of spicing it up is to give each team a particular ingredient which they must use.

Sneak a Peak

Here, a game leader will craft an object or structure for every group to recreate. A member of each group then has 10 seconds to "sneak a peek" at the structure (which is concealed from view) and describe what they saw to their group members so they can recreate it. If after a minute of recreating the structure, it isn't complete, another member of each group sneaks a 10-second peek at the object and comes back to further instruct the group. This rotation continues until a group is confident they have recreated the item. The aim of this activity is to improve project management skills of a team.

Room Escape

A group of people get "locked" in a room for one hour. During that one hour, they have to find hidden objects, solve puzzles, and figure out clues to locate the key that will set them free. This helps to improve teamwork, and to build logic and patience.

Painting Class

A very relaxing activity is a group painting class. This helps group members to unwind in an artistic way and also brings out their creativity.

Movie Date

One of the best ways to bond with team members is to schedule a date to the cinema. Team members can then discuss parts of the movie they liked and disliked. This helps team members to learn from scenarios and also improve on constructive criticism.

Volunteering

This is a good cause for the community but also a great way to create bonding among team members. Team members can volunteer their time and expertise to help a non-profit organization.

Team bonding activities have long term benefits on the members one of which includes; team members understanding one another’s strengths, weaknesses and interests better. This in turn builds their motivation and collaborative spirit.
